Windstone History

In the early 1950s, legendary songwriter and singer Eddy Arnold drove south from Nashville with his wife Sally on an antiquing trip that would take them through rural Williamson County.

That same day, a friend of Mr. Arnold's who worked in the real estate business was overseeing the auction of 150 acres of pastoral land owned by a local family named  Vaughn. Out of curiosity, Mr. Arnold stopped by the property to see how the auction was progressing.

When they arrived, the Arnolds found the real estate man standing at the property's entrance with a look of disappointment on his face.
“How are things?” Eddy asked in his distinct, famous voice. The real estate man looked into the lower valley of the property, then dropped his head. ”Not well,” he answered. “Not well at all.”

At that moment, what began as an innocent trip to discover rare antiques, became an investment of much greater value. By mid-morning, Eddy Arnold owned one of the most pristine parcels of land in the entire county.

In the years that followed, Mr. Arnold's interest in real estate investment grew, and over time, he acquired a number of tracts adjacent to the original purchase he made over a half-century ago.

For the most part, the farm became a retreat for the Arnold family and friends. An avid horseman, Eddy rode with his children along the ridge tops and into the low verdant valley that offered shade and solitude - away from the lights and long hours spent on the road performing.

Today, the land remains untouched. No longer riding horses or touring, Mr. Arnold decided that his land would be better suited as a home for a new kind of Brentwood community - one that embraced the traditions found in his lyrics and the enchantment in his voice.

Southern Land Company has the honor of developing this community. Windstone will embrace the same harmony, energy and refinement that transformed a simple country boy, with a dream and a song, into a international legend.
